Job Title : Food Service Preparation Specialist
Reports To : April Williams (Director)
Type of Position: Part Time (Hourly)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Prepare well-balanced nutritional menus and meals
Food Service Specialist carries on his/her duties under the direction of the Director of the Center
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
- The cook carries on his/her duties under the direction of and is responsible to the Director of the Center.
- The cook is expected to maintain a professional attitude, a flexible, positive approach to the job and must participate in achieving the objectives of the lunch program.
- The cook is responsible for ordering and inventory of food to prepare a nutritious breakfast, lunch and 1 snack per day.
- Prepare and distribution of meal in keeping with the Child and Adult Care Food Program policy.
- Prepare well-balanced, nutritional menus for dissemination among the members.
- Maintain the kitchen and all kitchen equipment and storage areas in a clean and orderly manner.
- The cook will also be responsible for practicing the standards respecting municipal health and safety laws with regard to commercial/institutional kitchens.
- The cook has a responsibility to redirect to all parents with concerns about the menu and to the Director and work together to find a solution.
- The cook makes recommendations regarding the purchase of equipment and supplies in consultation with the Director.
- The cook has a responsibility to communicate with the Director concerns regarding the lunch and snack program.
- The cook will maintain written recipes and must carefully scrutinize all ingredient labels for food additives and allergens.
- The cook is responsible for reducing waste in the kitchen by recycling and reusing wherever and whenever possible.
- The cook will assume other duties as assigned

- Must follow the Child and Adult Care Food Program policy.
- Must maintain the kitchen (equipment and storage areas etc.) in a clean and orderly manner.
- Must follow health and safety laws regarding commercial/institutional kitchens.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Prior experience with Food Service.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be willing to follow the Oklahoma Child and Adult Food Program Guidelines.
- Must take appropriate Food Service Training to meet state requirements
- Be able to pass background check
