General Description

BACKGROUND:  Under the direction of the Clinical Applications Coordinator, the Clinical Applications Specialist will assist with the Clinical Applications; the Clinical Applications Specialist is responsible for providing ongoing support for physician offices including troubleshooting and problem resolution. 

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Configures the EHR application according to the defined specifications of the internal customer.
  • Confirms program operation by conducting tests; modifying program sequence and/or configuration.
  • Responsible for creating documentation in areas where customization has been applied.
  • Assists in EHR guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Outstanding listening and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively work and communicate with providers and practice staff.
  • Performing the following project tasks: design templates, build protocols, test, integration test, and implementation of (EMR, HIE connectivity, interfaces, patient portal).)
  • Supporting the Clinical Applications Coordinator in development of project plans, milestone management, critical issue management.
  • Assists in planning and coordinating Meaningful Use initiative.
  • Training physicians and physician office staff on use of new technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot applications issues and products as required.
  • Research functionality for new enhancements.
  • Coordinating work effort with other teams as needed.
  • Ability to analyze, collaborate, and provide customer service and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize work appropriately with minimal supervision.
  • Support special initiatives as identified.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements and Qualifications

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Previous experience supporting Allscripts Ambulatory, Allscripts Practice Management, Dentrix, Medflow applications is preferred.  Excellent analytical abilities and strong problem solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. CMS and ONC guidelines regarding the Hi-Tech Act. Strong organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
QUALIFICATIONS: 
Associate Degree and/or two years working with ambulatory EHR and/or similar clinical applications. An equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above, may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
Must be able to pass a background check.
