General Description

The Clinical Applications Support Tech’s primary role is to support and maintain the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Health Program’s internal users and clinical applications infrastructure. The Clinical Application Support Technician will serve as a point of contact for company's internal user population, supporting the staff on a variety of clinical applications support initiatives. This position must have strong technical and analytical skills, demonstrated knowledge of the use of technology, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with a wide range of users with varying levels of technology familiarity.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Answer, evaluate, and prioritize requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with clinical applications and other EHR-related applications and technology.
  • Manage internal EHR help desk support ticket system (Spiceworks), troubleshooting with end user to resolve tickets, as applicable.  Accurately elevate and assign support tickets to appropriate Clinical Applications Specialist(s)/Coordinator for resolution.
  • Manage external vendor support ticket system (e.g., my.eClinicalWorks.com), opening, coordinating, and closing support cases, as applicable.
  • Support, troubleshoot and assist in the software maintenance and support of EHR, PACS/RIS, LIS, and legacy clinical application software.
  • Assist with creation and maintenance of clinical applications user accounts.
  • Assist with maintaining asset inventory tracking and licensing information.
  • Assist IT Department with performing hardware and software installation and updates, and performing post-installation/update testing.
  • Perform software surveillance in accordance with HIPAA federal requirements for EHR infrastructure.
  • Run reports as requested from EHR software.
  • Assist with training end users on application tasks and workflows.
  • Other duties and/or tasks, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Prior formal education in computer-related field recommended; demonstration of applicable job experience with satisfactory performance for at least 1 year in a similar position will be considered as a substitute.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, desire, and ability to effectively assist non-technical users.
  • Familiarity of troubleshooting clinical applications and applicable peripherals.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Windows operating systems including Windows 7/10. 
  • Familiarity with web browser functionality; Google Chrome and Internet Explorer.
  • Prior working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology and clinical workflows a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
