General Description

Responsible for monitoring and analyzing casino activities; ensuring complete compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures, Federal, State, and Tribal gaming laws and regulations, for all gaming facilities within the jurisdiction of Absentee Shawnee Tribe.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains control over access to sensitive areas of gaming devices.
  • Conducts compliance testing and the verification in the existence of errors consistent with gaming machine/device software, firmware, EPROM and/or hardware.
  • Monitors and inspects the shipping, receiving, installation, relocation, and/or removal of gaming machine(s)/device(s), ensuring the security and integrity of gaming machine(s)/device(s).  Ensures that accurate records are maintained.
  • Monitors and reports on observed issues of non-compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures, and Federal, State, and Tribal gaming laws and regulations; for all gaming departments, specified non-gaming departments (within the gaming operation), personnel, and related transactions.
  • Conducts investigations and reports on observed criminal and internal theft violations, ensuring the protection of Tribal assets.
  • Report writing and implements necessary corrective action plans, as well as conducts necessary follow-up investigations on reported observed violations and/or deficiencies.
  • Maintains ASTGC’s records, files, and statistics coinciding with compliance activities.
  • Works closely with Internal Auditors and Background Investigators as well as appropriate casino personnel to fulfill compliance requirements.
  • Ensures that the gaming operation fulfills in its entirety, the reporting requirements including but not limited to; Title 31, IRS, Federal, State, and Tribal gaming commission.
  • Assist in the review and updating of internal controls, policies, and procedures ensuring continual compliance with Federal, State and Tribal laws and regulations, as well as the continual protection of Tribal assets.
  • Maintains a current and continual working knowledge base of gaming industry related Federal, State, and Tribal laws and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Compliance Manager and/or Executive Director.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Four year degree in business or related field, casino operational training  or experience, regulatory enforcement related experience preferred, or three (3) plus years’ experience within a casino environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must possess strong skills in applying complete fact finding, analytical and problem solving method and technique.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, human relations, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills sufficient to provide effective reporting public speaking.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and have mature judgment and initiative.
  • Must have the ability to process information effectively, to learn new materials, identify and define problems and to make decisions.
  • Must understand and practice good business ethics, morals, and confidentiality.   
  • Must be able to travel if necessary.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting or standing or walking for long period of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking hearing and visual acuity.
  • Frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs)
  • Occasional lifting (up to 75 lbs)

Working Conditions

  • Normal casino environment (will be in a smoking environment occasionally)
  • Normal office hours
  • Flexible hours as needed (weeks, nights, and holidays)
