General Description
Oversight accounting in the absence of the Controller to ensure all duties are completed for the month in a timely manner. Back up is the Controller
Responsibilities
Assist, coordinate, generate and complete review of monthly and yearly financial reports.
Insures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP).
Assist and ensures that all financial transactions are in compliance with OMB Super Circular, federal guidelines and policies.
Gather necessary documents, assists and prepares audit schedules for Annual Audits.
Work with external auditors, finance staff and other departments to support financial documents and reports.
Assist with the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the work flow of the department.
Enters, maintains and updates Tribe’s fixed asset database for completeness and accuracy.
Assists in preparation of Indirect Cost rate submissions to the government.
Responsible for the oversight of staff within the accounting department in the Controllers absence.
Assist in posting Cash Receipts, Journal Vouchers, Cash Disbursement, and Payroll and checking for accuracy and completeness.
Assists with Annual IDC Proposal and calculate monthly Indirect Cost.
Correspondence on behalf of the Finance Department as directed by the Controller.
Assist Controller with MIP user set up, as needed.
Assist Program Directors as needed.
Attend meetings as necessary (Program Directors’ Meetings monthly, any other meeting requiring Finance personnel).
Assists, Reviews, post payroll and all financial transaction entries and review all general ledger accounts for month end close as needed.
Review and reconcile benefits invoices to liability accounts and general fund processing.
Back up as necessary: Cash Management and Controller.
Other duties as may be assigned by the Controller.
Education & Requirements
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business. Accounting preferred.
Requires 3-5 years accounting experience. Governmental or fund accounting preferred with two (2) years involving supervision of accounting/finance operations.
Must be able to pass a background check.
