General Description:

To prevent incidents of family violence, domestic violence and dating violence by establishing, maintaining and expanding Tribal programs and projects designed to prevent such violence. 

Responsibilities

  • With the advice and approval of the Domestic Violence Director, formulates and implements procedures and recommends policies designed to enhance the effectiveness of the program and to further the goals, policies and initiatives of the program.
  • To provide specialized services for children exposed to family violence, domestic violence and dating violence; underserved populations; and victims who are members of racial and ethnic minority populations.
  • Contacts and meets victims regarding their particular situation.

    Will greet survivors and visitors to the program office and help to ensure that they feel welcomed and supported.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with tribal code, program policy and procedure and federal grant guidelines.
  • Will actively participate in on-going training/workshops/meetings to continue to enhance professional skills and knowledge in working with and supporting survivors of violent crimes.
  • Assists with coordinating and implementing special events and projects.
  • Must be able to effectively and appropriately respond in stressful situations and to individuals who have been impacted by trauma.
  • Must be able to work effectively with a team of staff dedicated to enhancing the safety and well-being of those impacted by domestic violence.
  • Expected to support and promote the program mission and services through all interactions with the public.

    Maintains regular office hours for meeting with victims to make it easier for the victim to initiate criminal proceedings or receive assistance. Also may require after hours and weekend hours to help in case of emergency with clients.

    Serves as a resource to law enforcement agencies to assist with the emergency needs of victims.  
    Serves as a resource to the Tribal Court to provide court ordered services or refer clients to these services.

    Responsible for participation in special projects such as development of training programs and presentations to teens, law enforcement agencies, community agencies and community groups to inform about family violence prevention.
Ability to work independently.
Other duties as assigned.

Education requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Family Services or related field required may substitute degree for 5 years’ experience working in Domestic Violence or related field.

Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s license.
Must be able to pass a background check.
Native American Preference/EOE/Drug Free Workplace.
