This position coordinates the pre-award planning, organization, preparation and the post-award administration of various grants assigned to one or more department. Will interact with staff to ensure that grants are in compliance with regulatory, funding agency and policy requirements under the direct supervision of the Grant Director. Provides guidance and support to department supervisors in the identification and development of grant opportunities.  

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the planning and preparation of grant proposals for one or more departments
  • Provide guidance and assistance to supervisors in the interpretation of funding regulations and requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between investigators, granting agencies, and the Finance Department in the budgeting and preparation of grant
  • Prepares and compiles all components of each grant submission, ensures that the proposal is formatted, packaged, and submitted in accordance with granting agency requirements.
  • Develops and maintains specialized databases and systems for recording and tracking grant proposals, awards, and related statistical information
  • Creates and distributes standard and special reports, studies, summaries, and analyses, as required
  • Develops and maintains a library of reference documentation, including such information as funding agency requirements and forms, investigator profiles and curriculum vitae, abstracts and reference literature, and other pertinent material.
  • Monitors and coordinates the administration of post-award grants to ensure that budgeting and administrative policies, procedures, and agency requirements are being followed; manages administrative problems and/or budget changes occurring during the awarded granting period.
  • Maintains currency of knowledge of grant funding policies, regulations, and procedures; disseminates and/or presents changes to departments and advises on the implementation of changes and on the impact of changes on funded operations.
  • Notify appropriate operating Departmental staff and Supervisors of changes and revisions to grant policies and procedures or other matters related to the compliance of each grant.
  • Work in conjunction with  Department Directors  to identify and pursue funding for The Absentee Shawnee Tribal programs and services
  • Other duties as assigned by Grant Director

Education and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree equivalent with 2 years’ experience working in similar position.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives with appropriate prioritization.
  • Budgeting experience with multi-million dollar budgets
  • Previous experience working in Tribal Government, preferred
  • Knowledge of Self-Governance funds, policies, and requirements
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Ability to comply with confidentiality requirements
  • Ability to understand, analyze and interpret financial reports and records
  • Proficient in research, interpreting and analyzing diverse data
