General Description
The purpose of this position is to provide pharmaceutical services for patients at the AST Little Axe Health Center Pharmacy by assisting the pharmacist/licensed preceptor(s) on duty. Work typically involves  processing and dispensing of medications and patient education.  The intern is under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy and/or Staff Pharmacist/Licensed Preceptor.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Under pharmacist supervision, processes and dispenses prescriptions.
  • Under pharmacist supervision, counsels patients regarding medications; ensures that customer service is a top priority.
  • Assists in monitoring of resources within the pharmacy; implements approved changes in resource allocations, identifies and reports variances.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements and qualifications
Native American Preference/EEO/Drug Free/Smoke Free Workplace
  • Must be a Licensed Intern in state of Oklahoma in good standing.
Skills and Abilities
  • Good knowledge of pharmacy practice and standards.
  • The ability to relate well with patients, to gain their acceptance and confidence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to relate well with co-workers and the general public.
  • Must be computer literate and have ability to become familiar with pharmacy software, including billing procedures.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen.
