GENERAL DESCRIPTION This position is located at the Shawnee Health Center, Behavioral Health Services Department. Behavioral Health Services provides outpatient counseling services to members of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe, their immediate dependent family members, and member of other federally-recognized American Indian Tribes and Alaska Natives residing in the tribe’s health program catchment area.

RESPONSIBILITES

• As a member of a multi disciplinary patient care team, provides diagnostic and treatment services (preventative, curative, and rehabilitative) to individuals, families or group. • Provides family and individual counseling to assist in solving problems related to family functioning, and care and supervision of children. May refer neglected or deprived children to Tribal ICW Program as well as adults who may need General Assistance or other social services. • Provides psycho-educational and treatment groups in support of intervention for drug and alcohol, domestic violence, parenting, mental health issues, and other topics as identified through integration of services within the tribal programs as well as outreach and school based services. • Assists in the planning, design, implementation and coordination of social and mental health services with other tribal services. • Chart Clinical data in electronic health record for purpose of assessment, diagnosis, treatment, referral and accountability. Assures the confidentiality of patient information. • Provides statistical and narrative reports as required. • Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Master’s degree in a clinical based program such as MSW, MHR, MA or MS in Counseling. Licenses or license eligible for LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or LADC are required. • At least one year of working experience in the social services in the mental health field. • Knowledge of record charting and Privacy Act Requirements. • Excellent people skills, excellent analytical and organizational ability; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and/or in writing. • Knowledge of Federal, State and Tribal Social/Mental Health Programs; Knowledge of tribal culture and traditions. • Must possess a valid Oklahoma Drivers License. • Physical Requirements: Lift and carry 15lbs, sit for long periods of time. Must be able to hear conversational speech, visually observe client behaviors for safety and communicate effectively. • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
