General Description

The purpose of this position is to assist the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Manager in complying with COVID-19 rules and guidelines in order to protect the safety of all personnel of the facility.  As well as implement and maintain the Emergency Management plans that comply with all Federal, State, and Local guidelines regarding COVID-19. The Safety Officer is responsible for overseeing the administration of the Tribe’s COVID-19 safety procedures as well as responding to employee questions regarding these procedures.  This position is a regular full time position till September 2021.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and coordinates activity of the COVID-19 Emergency Management plan resulting in efficient and safe operations of the facility.
  • Assists with preventative COVID-19 strategies, which may include temperature checkpoints and handing out facial masks to all personnel.
  • Assist Emergency Manager in the development of event/departmental specific security and safety needs.
  • Assists with documenting reports of COVID-19 exposures or occurrences and record statistical information.
  • Ensure all personnel follow all personal protective equipment guidelines and maintain appropriate social distancing rules.
  • Assists the Emergency Manager with the administration and accuracy of all required reports and documentation within the department.
  • Serve as the first level contact and response for COVID-19 safety and compliance concerns within each department.

Education Requirements

  • Must be reliable, detailed oriented, capable of multi-tasking with excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong professional customer service interpersonal skills.  
  • Computer literacy required (Windows operating systems – Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Should have in-depth knowledge of Security Environment and Security Hazards and OSHA regulations.
  • Knowledge in Fire and public safety regulations relevant to the facility’s needs.
  •  Requires high level of problem solving and analytical skills
  • Preferred CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must possess Oklahoma State Driver’s Licenses  
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs of dead weight, stand for long periods of time, crouch, stoop, and climb stairs without any assistance.
  • Requires occasional handling of items up to 100lbs
  • Exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and the use of protective equipment.
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
