General Description

This position is located at the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Health System in Norman, OK.  Grants Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of Health.  The Grants Coordinator will provide tribal level coordination of data collection and analysis, develop partnerships, participate in the development of needs and resource assessments, and other prevention programs, practices or policies that support the goals/objectives.  Grant Coordinator will work directly with subject matter experts to fulfill the goals/objectives of the SAMHSA TOR Grant deliverables include writing yearly budget, travel budget, narratives, action plans, logic models, communication plans, milestones, sustainability report; implementation plan, and monthly reports with data addendums.  Grants Coordinator shall perform such services in accordance with.  Grants Coordinator must be expert or committed to attend related trainings as soon as employment begins.

Responsibilities

1.             Work with other Tribal grantees and Indian Health Service to access, analyze and summarize data priority.
2.             Works directly with Tribes at their Tribal locations.
3.             Collaborate with Tribal personnel and local communities to develop procedures for collection of data related to substance abuse.
4.             Will report all final substance abuse data reports and subsequent analysis to SAMHSA.
5.             Gather and obtain data from community agencies.
6.             Attend all related meeting and trainings.
7.             Report all data gathering projects with the SAMHSA TOR grant.
8.             Collaborate and aide in implementation of 5 step strategic prevention plan for substance abuse.
9.             Act as a client advocate in order to coordinate services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
10.           Cooperative in serving on various health program committees and boards.
11.           Other duties as assigned. 

Education/Qualification Requirements

1.  Must have a Bachelor Degree in a behavioral science field from an accredited university.
2.  Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
3.  Ability to plan own work and carry out assignments effectively.
4.  Ability to accomplish the quality and quantity of work expected within set limits of cost and time.
5.  Ability to communicate with others effectively both orally and in writing in working out solutions to problems or questions relating to work.
6.  Ability to develop improvements in or design new work methods and procedures.
7.  Knowledge of the cultural and social backgrounds of the Native American population.
8.  Knowledge of Federal, State, and Tribal Social/Mental Health Programs.
9.  Must have the knowledge of record keeping, charting, ethics, patient rights and responsibilities, HIPAA rules/regulations, and patient confidentiality.
10.        Native American preference will be applied in the event of equally qualified applicants, but all qualifies applicants will be considered.
11.        Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
