The Absentee Shawnee Tribe is primarily located in the heart of central Oklahoma with approximately 4,723 members who live in all parts of the world as of as of December 31, 2024. Our tribal government complex is located in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Our logo features Tecumseh, a Shawnee warrior and visionary leader, who worked to unite tribes in a common homeland where Indians could live under their own laws and leaders. He died in October 1813, in battle near the area of present day Thamesville, in Toronto, Canada. The LI-SI-WI-NWI in our logo means “Among the Shawnee”

Absentee Shawnee Tribe Agriculture Department presents 4th Annual Fishin for Nutrition!! Friday, June 27, 2025 from 10am to 2 pm at AST Farm, Exit 192, SW corner of I-40 and Valleyview Rd off Earlsboro exit. Open to youth 18 and under (13 & under accompanied by an adult) Bring your own chair and fishing pole if you have one.

The Executive Committee of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma, in accordance with the Constitution, Article XVI, Section 3, “Executive Committee Meetings” here by calls and declares public notice that the REGULAR meeting of the Executive Committee of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma has been scheduled for Wednesday June 18, 2025 at 10 AM at the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Complex in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Joseph Crossley

 Joseph Crossley, 79, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025. He is a member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma. Joseph was born in Wichita, KS on November 11, 1945 and graduated from Rose Hill High School in 1963. In January 1963 he joined the Navy, received an Honorable discharge then in August 1966 went on to attend college at Wichita State University earning his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in 1973 and his Master of Business Administration in 1975. Shortly after he completed his degrees he started a family and moved to Texas. In Texas he worked for Texas Instruments. He was able to retire from T.I. at an early age and moved to Shawnee, OK. He was preceded in death by - his parents, Basil and Eleanor Crossley of Bethel Acres, OK; His sister-in-law Tessie Crossley, sister Ruth Harder and brother Orin Crossley. He is survived in passing by his brother Burton Crossley of Elmo, Tx and his sister Rachel Crossley of Choctaw, OK – along with his four children, Son, Jesse Crossley & wife Narda Crossley and their children Ricardo and Lennox Daughter Caroline Crossley & Bryan Suhy and their children Caelin, Brody, and Eleanor Daughter Cathleen Crossley & husband Mason Riley and their children Wren and Jean-Michel Son John Crossley & Megan Kinney; and other extended family members and friends. Joseph was a son, a brother, a cousin, a nephew, an uncle, a father and a grandfather. He will be missed.

The Absentee Shawnee Tribe plans to submit an application for Fiscal Year 2023 Indian Community Development Block Grant through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
This application will be for a new multipurpose building at Camp Nikoti Youth Camp in Norman, OK.

DRIVE-THRU AST Tribal Children Christmas Pizza with Santa

Due to the rise in COVID and FLU cases in the area the Executive Committee has decided to change the in person Pizza with Santa Event to a drive thru event. Please enter the Shawnee complex through the main entrance, AST Dr., turn right on to White Turkey Dr. and exit on James L. Edwards Ln. (see map).
Application DEADLINE is tomorrow, December 14th. Application must be received by the deadline for event and card mail out.
