The Absentee Shawnee Tribe is primarily located in the heart of central Oklahoma with approximately 4,576 members who live in all parts of the world as of January 2022. Our tribal government complex is located in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Our logo features Tecumseh, a Shawnee warrior and visionary leader, who worked to unite tribes in a common homeland where Indians could live under their own laws and leaders. He died in October 1813, in battle near the area of present day Thamesville, in Toronto, Canada. The LI-SI-WI-NWI in our logo means “Among the Shawnee”

2022 ARPA Summer Assistance Program

On behalf of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma, the Executive Committee in response to the COVID-19 pandemic has established an 2022 Summer General Welfare Assistance The 2022 ARPA Summer Assistance Program will be for enrolled Absentee Shawnee tribal members. All AST tribal members ages 18 and older, who are on the roll as of June 1st, 2021, are eligible to receive a one (1) time payment of $1,500. AST Long-Range Transportation Plan Meeting

The Absentee Shawnee Tribe Long-Range Transportation Plan Meeting Location: AST Multi-Purpose Building 2029 S. Gordon Cooper Drive Shawnee, OK 74801 405.275.4030 Date & Time: Friday, August 12th at 10:00 am. In an effort to update and modernize its Tribal Transportation Program, the Absentee Shawnee Tribe (AST) is developing a long-range transportation plan (LRTP). The LRTP will allow for the inventory and analysis of transportation infrastructure within the AST transportation network and geographic service area. The LRTP identifies goals and develops strategies to address current and future land use, economic development, traffic demand, and public health, safety, and social needs (25 CFR Part 170.400 and 410). The tribal communities and local population are the beneficiaries of tribal transportation improvements. The AST invites the members of the tribal community and various stakeholders with a vested in interest to attend a public meeting to ask questions and share information. The meeting will be held at the AST Multi-Purpose Building on Friday, August 12, 2022, starting at 10 am and concluding by noon. Refreshments will be provided. Melokami Youth Camp

Location: Brendle Corner Community Building     
                   Little Axe, OK

Date/Time: March 19-23, 2018
                   9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Ages: 6th grade to 12th grade

Limit: 25 participants

Transportation: Tecumseh/Shawnee area youth will be picked up at the AST complex @ 8:30 am SHARP.  We will be returning at 4:30 pm.  Space is limited.

Camp to include: Youth Prevention Activities, Cultural Activities,  Healthy Lifestyles Activities

General Council Meeting

The Governor has announced the General Council meeting will be April 14th 10:00 A.M. At Shawnee, OK in AST Health's Multi-purpose building.
