Alicia “Aly” Miller is the current Secretary of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma. The Office of the Secretary is charged with the preparation of meeting notices, agendas and minutes of all Executive Committee and General Council meetings. This office also serves as the custodian of the tribe’s membership roll which includes the processing of new membership applications, annotating the roll to reflect deceased members, recording official name changes and/or changes of address, replying to inquiries and the confirmation of tribal enrollment. Additional tribal departments delegated to the Office of the Secretary are: Domestic Violence, ICW, Human Resources, MIS, Enrollment and the Main Receptionist.

Mrs. Miller is a University of Oklahoma alumnus where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Native American Studies. She also has two master’s degrees — a Master of Science in Management (Magna Cum Laude) and a Master of Business Administration (Cum Laude). She is a proud member of the North Ceremonial Ground and is of the Round Paw Clan. She serves as President of the University of Oklahoma American Indian Alumni Society. Past memberships include the North American Indian Women’s Association for over 20 years and as an AST Election Commission member for 4 years. She has worked for over 20 years in tribal administration. She and her husband, Scott, have 2 sons and a daughter-in-law —Brody, Connor and Alexis. Her parents are Nancy (Hansen) Edwards and the late Glen Edwards, and she is the granddaughter of the late Martha Ellis Edwards, the late Linda Jones and the late Jess (Mouse) Hansen.
