Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma

The Absentee Shawnee Tribe is primarily located in the heart of central Oklahoma with approximately 4,760 members who live in all parts of the world as of December 31, 2025. Our tribal government complex is located in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Our logo features Tecumseh, a Shawnee warrior and visionary leader, who worked to unite tribes in a common homeland where Indians could live under their own laws and leaders. He died in October 1813, in battle near the area of present day Thamesville, in Toronto, Canada. The LI-SI-WI-NWI in our logo means “Among the Shawnee”

Introduction The Absentee Shawnee Tribal Health Authority (ASTHA) is soliciting proposals from qualified firms or individuals to provide Interim Financial Management and Oversight Services. The selected contractor will ensure continuity of financial operations, regulatory compliance, financial integrity, and strategic planning support while ASTHA recruits and fills vacant financial positions. In addition, the contractor will evaluate the operational and financial requirements necessary to establish a fully functional and independent health department finance operation. In an effort to keep our citizens safe and healthy, the Absentee Shawnee Tribe and AST Emergency Management have procured reusable, cloth masks to supply to every Tribal member (within boundaries and at-large). Distribution will begin on June 2^nd and can be accomplished in three ways:

Pick up from 10am – 12pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the checkpoint located at the main entrance of the administrative complex in Shawnee,
By hand-delivery, or
By mail

Proclamation 2020-04 - Emergency Declaration and Stay At Home Order Update

The Absentee Shawnee Tribe is in the process of reopening the Shawnee Administrative Campus. As previously stated, the AST Recovery Plan consists of 4 phases. Phase one will begin on Monday, May 11th. Elected officials, department heads, and essential employees will return to campus to perform necessary functions. In the coming days, all other employees will be notified by their management team on expected return-to-work dates.

Proclamation 2020-03 - Emergency Declaration and Stay At Home Order

The Absentee Shawnee Tribe initially issued a declaration of emergency on March 18, 2020. Based on public health information and emergency management data, we have extended the declaration to May 24, 2020. AST officials are working on a four-phased approach to reopen the campus.
