General Description

Reporting to the Agricultural Coordinator, The Farm Hand will assist in the daily operations of the farm, including care of livestock, maintenance of equipment, crop management, and general upkeep of facilities. This position requires physical labor, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities & Duties

Livestock Care
  • Feed, water, and monitor the health of cattle and other animals.
  • Assist with calving, weaning, vaccinations, and treatments.
  • Clean pens, barns, and working areas.
Crop & Field Work
  • Plant, irrigate, weed, and harvest crops.
  • Operate and maintain farm equipment such as tractors, balers, and mowers.
  • Assist with hay baling, loading, and storage.
Maintenance
  • Repair and maintain fences, gates, and corrals.
  • Perform basic maintenance on vehicles and machinery.
  • Keep farm facilities clean, safe, and functional.
General Duties
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear proper protective equipment.
  • Assist with farm records, inventory, and reporting when needed.
  • Support special projects (e.g., youth programs, community events, seasonal harvesting).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent. 
  • Prior farm or ranch experience preferred, but training will be provided.
  • Ability to safely operate tractors, skid steers, balers, and other equipment.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions.
  • Valid driver’s license required (CDL a plus).
  • Hours may vary depending on livestock and crop needs. (Seasonal and weekend work may be required).
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Should enjoy working outdoors, in all weather conditions; 
  • Physically able to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Perform manual labor.
  • Like to work with plants and/or animals; 
  • Sitting or standing or walking for long period of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking hearing and visual acuity.
