General Description

ICW is to provide case management services to children and families of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe. Will attend Tribal and State court hearings as assigned. Is responsible for implementing Family Preservation Program. Will assist at risk families by providing services needed to promote family strength and stability.  Increase parents competence by providing Parenting Skill classes, help families obtain services that meet their needs in an appropriate manner and prevent unnecessary out of home placement and assist families after reunification. This position requires excellent attendance, good communication skills as well as uncompromised attention to Client Confidentiality and detail.  Must advocate for and facilitate the proper implementation of the ICW Act.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate alleged cases of abuse or neglect.
  • Conduct interviews and collect documentary evidence such as medical reports, arrest records and court filings.
  • Maintain accurate files and records of investigations.
  • Plan and coordinate services to help children and their families.
  • Prepares court reports and outline of investigation with resulting actions that were taken.
  • Develop and evaluate community programs and services to ensure that basic needs of the children and families are met.
  • Works closely with foster care worker on recommendations of temporary foster care, foster recruitment events and advises foster or adoptive parents.
  • Attends court proceedings, internal or external client staffing meetings, foster care committee meetings or other meetings deemed appropriate for the case.
  • Provide transportation when needed, prepare case plans, perform home visits, and provide follow-up care.
  • Serves as liaison between children, homes, schools, family services, counselors, courts, doctors and other contacts to help children or families who face abuse or neglect.
  • Plan and coordinate parenting classes for clients.

  • Maintain high level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Must use critical thinking skills while be empathic to the clients.
  • Must have knowledge in the social work field, domestic violence, criminal justice, and coordination of services.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Must be highly organized.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with internal and external agencies and bureaucratic procedures.
  • Must be able to travel in and out of state for court hearings, trainings, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director.

Additional Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; or education and work experience in the helping field, of at least four years combined.
Must be computer literate and possess adequate written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to lift 15lbs; climb stairs; and be available to visit client’s homes in unfavorable conditions i.e. extreme heat, extreme cold, and rough terrain.
Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s license.
Must be able to pass comprehensive background check
