The Absentee Shawnee Tribe is primarily located in the heart of central Oklahoma with approximately 4,723 members who live in all parts of the world as of as of December 31, 2024. Our tribal government complex is located in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Our logo features Tecumseh, a Shawnee warrior and visionary leader, who worked to unite tribes in a common homeland where Indians could live under their own laws and leaders. He died in October 1813, in battle near the area of present day Thamesville, in Toronto, Canada. The LI-SI-WI-NWI in our logo means “Among the Shawnee”

September is Suicide Prevention Month, and we're coming together to raise awareness, honor those we've lost, and support one another in the journey toward healing and hope.
Join us September 25 at 3pm at the AST Complex, 2025 S Gordon Cooper Drive, Shawnee, OK.
AST Elders Council are now taking nominations for Elders Care Bags. Nominations are due November 14 2025.
30 bags will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
With the rise in COVID cases in the recent days, I stress the importance of following all CDC guidelines. I would also like to encourage all tribal members to get the COVID vaccine. Please do your part to help keep your family and our tribe safe.
We are pleased to announce that our start date for the After School Program will be August 16, 2021. At this time, we will only be able to pick up from Tecumseh Schools and South Rock Creek. As soon as we are able to hire more tutors we will expand to the Shawnee Public School. At this time, we are only taking waiting list applications. Families will be notified as soon as we are able to compile the enrollment list.

The Executive Committee of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma, in accordance with the Constitution, Article XVI, Section 3, “Executive Committee Meetings” here by calls and declares public notice that the REGULAR meeting of the Executive Committee of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 28th, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Complex in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Please note the dates for The American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) funds distribution process .This will be for ALL Absentee Shawnee Tribal members and will be a one-time $3000 disbursement.
