The Absentee Shawnee Tribe is primarily located in the heart of central Oklahoma with approximately 4,723 members who live in all parts of the world as of as of December 31, 2024. Our tribal government complex is located in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Our logo features Tecumseh, a Shawnee warrior and visionary leader, who worked to unite tribes in a common homeland where Indians could live under their own laws and leaders. He died in October 1813, in battle near the area of present day Thamesville, in Toronto, Canada. The LI-SI-WI-NWI in our logo means “Among the Shawnee”

The Executive Committee of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma, in accordance with the Constitution, Article XVI, Section 3, “Executive Committee Meetings” here by calls and declares public notice that the REGULAR meeting of the Executive Committee of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma has been scheduled for Wednesday July 16, 2025 at 10 AM at the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Complex in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Proclamation 2020-04 - Emergency Declaration and Stay At Home Order Update

The Absentee Shawnee Tribe is in the process of reopening the Shawnee Administrative Campus.  As previously stated, the AST Recovery Plan consists of 4 phases.  Phase one will begin on Monday, May 11th. Elected officials, department heads, and essential employees will return to campus to perform necessary functions. In the coming days, all other employees will be notified by their management team on expected return-to-work dates.
 

Proclamation 2020-03 - Emergency Declaration and Stay At Home Order

 
The Absentee Shawnee Tribe initially issued a declaration of emergency on March 18, 2020. Based on public health information and emergency management data, we have extended the declaration to May 24, 2020.  AST officials are working on a four-phased approach to reopen the campus.

Absentee Shawnee Tribe Closure for April 1 -3rd 2020

The Absentee Shawnee Tribal Complex will be closed to employees and visitors on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, April 1-3, 2020. The Executive Committee is requiring all buildings and departments to be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and again please stay safe, wash your hands and take all CDC precautions.
