SUMMARY OF WORK: 
Position is temporary with an end date of December 2024, and may end earlier depending on funding. Work will be with the Education and Education ARPA programs.  Assist clients applying for Education programs. Organize and administer various departmental activities.
JOB CHARACTERISTICS: 
Nature of Work:
This position requires some work outside of normal working hours to meet with clients and to assist in program events and activities, including cultural activities. Several hours per day are spent working on the computer and answering the phone. May require traveling to schools, colleges, and universities for meetings, conferences, and training seminars. Assists in ensuring all reports required and requested by the AST or relevant funding agency are submitted in a timely manner. Maintains program and client files. This position will be located in Shawnee, OK.
Personal Contacts:
Daily contact with tribal members, students, college students, department employees, public, tribal, state, and national officials who are part of grant-funded activities.
Essential Functions:
Position requires individual to work independently with minimal supervision. Position requires ability to read written material, communicate orally and in writing, travel, and organize meetings. Be multitask-oriented, exercise good judgment, make competent decisions, and handle stress. Perform the duties associated with processing applications, accepting receipts for education related purchases, determining eligibility by making sure students provide all required documents, and will maintain confidentiality of files. Additional duties such as meeting clients to purchase school-related items, assist with organizing program activities such as the Johnson O’Malley school supply distribution, spring break camp, and summer camp.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Courteous and demonstrates good public relations skills
  • Ability to work well with staff, public, organizations, agencies.
Preferred Experience
  • College or Vocational coursework
  • Experience with tribal education or social service type programs
  • Experience in working with diverse populations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Familiar with data collection systems
