General Description
This position performs the accounting and financial service functions for programs funded by grants or special revenue. This position is responsible for monthly, quarterly, and final reporting on all awarded grants. Monitors and approve the grant expenditures for compliance with specific grant guidelines.
Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and coordinate the centralized accounting and financial reporting for tribally awarded grants
Responsible for grants government reporting, consisting of periodic, quarterly, and final year reports.
Performs government drawdown and request for reimbursement or advance of funds.
Interacts with departments concerning completion dates, over budgets, and final vouchers.
Develops management reports to keep senior management and Executive Committee informed of financial issues related to federal regulations.
Reconciles all grant related general ledger accounts
Approve all grant related expenditures
Enter and review all journal entries related to grant activity
Review grant budgets monthly, quarterly and annually for any issues with overspending/underspending
Prepare invoices/billing and drawdown funds for the support of restricted fund expenditures
Prepare and enter monthly Indirect Cost Expenses and Revenues for all grants
Prepare all applicable quarterly and fiscal reports for grants and ensure an accurate, timely submission
Coordinate with key personnel at all levels of the tribe to ensure timely expenditure of grant funds in compliance with guidelines and deadlines
Stay up to date on training related to each particular funding agency
Stay up to date on the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circulars related to grant management including audits and federal regulations
Participate in the annual audit as it relates to grants
Maintain grant fiscal records and database
Performs other duties as assigned by Controller
Education & Requirements
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business preferred.
At least 2 years of general accounting experience or equivalent experience managing grants.
Excellent analytical skills and strong knowledge of Excel and Sage MIP is preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be detail oriented with strong attention to deadlines.
Must be able to prioritize, multi-task, and self-direct
