General Description
The role of the groundskeeper/maintenance is responsible for ground maintenance and participation in construction activities. The work environment involves exposure to dirt, extreme temperatures, and requires heavy lifting or carrying of objects.
Responsibilities & Duties
Plant shrubs, trees, and flowers; prune trees and shrubs.
Remove debris from stairs and walks, rake leaves, and mow lawn.
Water trees, shrubs, and lawns and perform irrigation activities.
Spray for weeds and insects using unrestricted chemicals as required.
Operate large power lawn movers, edgers, hand tools, and large vehicles associated with ground maintenance and landscaping activities.
Operate pick-up trucks, flat-rack trucks, dump trucks for hauling purposes and for trash and debris removal.
Perform minor maintenance and repair on equipment and tools as required.
Assist in the maintenance of parking lots and other surfaces, including asphalt repairs and minor masonry or plastering work as required.
Shovel and remove snow and ice from designated areas such as roofs, sidewalks, and entryways as required.
Install and remove outdoor signs, parking and traffic control barriers, and overhead banners as required.
Operate various snow removal equipment
Identify and report work orders for maintenance needs.
Initiate and promote quality improvement, seeking to meet and exceed health standards and cost efficiency.
Attend in-service education meetings to enhance growth and the development of skills.
Follow established Medical facility and safety policies and procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
One year of grounds maintenance experience; or, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Six months experience preferred.
Physically able to perform required duties.
Knowledge of equipment, tools, and procedures of grounds constructions and care.
Knowledge of fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides used in grounds care and gardening.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work hours other than 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
Skill in operating grounds maintenance and grounds construction equipment.
Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.
Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend or kneel for long periods of time.
Prolonged sitting, standing, or walking; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, and stooping; good finger dexterity and sensory perception; frequent repetitive motions; as well as talking, hearing, and visual acuity are required.
Frequent lifting (up to 15 lbs)
Occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs)
