General Description
The Medical Records position prepares and audits billing and payments information per corporate guidelines for Accounts Payable and Receivables. They break down and process patient chars, process physician orders for billing purposes or clinical follow-up. The Scheduler will schedule patient visits, assist the DON in monitoring schedules and productivity.
Responsibilities & Duties
Back up other functions as needed.
Maintain regular attendance and opportunity and punctuality which are critical in order to complete the day to day task.
Ensure that medical records are kept confidential and appropriately protected/locked per state and federal guidelines.
Process physician orders.
Maintain a log of physician orders for coordination of billing.
Participate in weekly case conference.
Run daily and weekly reports as requested and notifies DON of any issues.
Work with the DON and field staff to receive scheduling needs information and adjust schedules are getting.
Work closely with DON/ADON in tracking Face to Face Encounters and ensures completion within the required time frame.
Audit MCR and MCO files as directed to prepare for billing.
Maintain and break down patient charts and ensures that charts are up to date.
Maintain a log of physician orders for coordination of billing.
Participate in training other medical records/billing positions as requested.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education Requirements and Qualifications
Education and Qualifications
LPN preference given, but not required.
Billing, Home Health and scheduling experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of medical terminology
Understanding of healthcare operations, billing processes, and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Knowledge of insurance claims, coding (e.g., CPT, ICD), and reimbursement practices.
Awareness of laws like HIPAA to ensure confidentiality and compliance.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to detail.
Time management skills.
Problem solving skills.
Ability to evaluate data and resolve errors in a logical, timely manner.
Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.
Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
This position is subject to frequent interruptions, pressure from multiple/emergency calls and hostile or emotionally upset patients, family members, and visitors.
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend or kneel for long periods of time.
Sitting or standing or walking for long period of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking hearing and visual acuity
