General Description
Determines client eligibility.  This position will assist victims in the Transitional Housing Program and assist with cases proceeding through the criminal justice system.  This position coordinates the daily operations of the transitional housing program and court advocacy.  Assists victims who are fleeing domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and/or stalking needing emergency services, transitional housing, protective orders and cases related to the incident.
Responsibilities
  •  Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Transitional Housing Program, court advocacy and cases for court.
  •  With the advice and approval of the Director, formulates and implements procedures and recommends policies designed to enhance th effectiveness of the program and to further the goals, policies and initiatives of the program.
  •  Works with transitional housing clients on a monthly basis to case manage on their goals.
  •  Coordinates with clients and services that will benefit the client in becoming self-sufficient.
  •  Contacts and advocates clients regarding their particular situation and helping them to locate a safe residence.
  •  Maintains regular office hours for meeting with clients to make it easier for the client to receive assistance. 
  •  May be required to make special arrangements after hours to meet with clients who cannot meet during business hours.
  •  Assist victims in knowing their rights about obtaining an Order of Protection and what to do when the Order is violated.
  •  Prepares the victim for court testimony and accompanies the victim to court.
  •  Serves as a resource to law enforcement agencies to assist with the emergency needs of victims Serves as a resource the Tribal Court to provide court ordered services or refer clients to these services.
 Actions and Duties which are required to provide services to clients:
  •  Advocate for those affected by a relationship of violence and/or sexual assault.
  •  Work to provide case management, needs assessment, goal planning and referrals.
  •  Accompany client to law enforcement and court hearing.
  •  Coordinates intakes of potential clients.
  •  Assist with tasks related to victims, such as documentation, statistics and reports.
  •  Determine appropriate services for incoming clients.
  •  Gain intermediate assistance for those in need.
  •  Attend orientation and receive appropriate additional training with supervisor.
  •  Maintain client and staff confidentiality and abide by the Tribe’s Ethical Statement
  •  Maintain client files and compile statistical data.
  •  Understanding and support of the agency’s mission.
  •  Empowering clients to achieve goals and make positive changes in their lives.
  •  Learn about relationship violence and sexual assault, social services, community resources, basic case management and crisis intervention.
  •  Increase knowledge of local referral sources and ability to coordinate services with other providers
  •  Be on-call for calls that come into the agency regarding domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and/or stalking.
  •  Provide crisis intervention advocacy.
  •  Offer sensitivity and non-judgmental attitude, allowing survivors of sexual assault to begin to recover in setting that is unclouded by shame or     victim-blaming.
  •  In/Out State Training.
  •  Other duties as assigned by the Director.
Education Requirements
  • Position may be filled with a four-year college or university degree with a major in social work or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
    Must be able to lift up to 25lbs.
