General Description
This position is located within the Absentee Shawnee Tribe’s Health Programs at the Little Axe Health Center in Norman, Oklahoma. The purpose of this position is to transport eligible patients to and from medical appointments. Transportation Driver will also deliver prescriptions to patients address when time and schedule permits.
Responsibilities & Duties
Provide non-emergency medical transport for eligible patients per the program guidelines that require transportation to and from their medical appointments.
Complete and maintain travel logs, new daily transports/deliveries, and provide monthly statistical date for program reporting.
Responsible for vehicle maintenance and upkeep. Responsible for keeping vehicle clean inside and out.
Work as a team with other Transportation staff.
Complete basic assessment of patient’s environment to determine program eligibility.
Keep in contact with dispatch using the provided company cell phone and promptly report any issues that arise during patient pickup or drop-off.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
 
Education Requirements and Qualifications
Education and Qualifications
High School Graduate or GED Equivalent.
Must be available to work flexible hours.
Must be able to obtain CPR Certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be able to follow instructions/directions and GPS.
Must be willing to work under adverse conditions and varied hours, no set breaks or lunch times.
Must be able to safely operate the vehicle provided by the AST Health System for transportation.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with peers and superiors.
Be culturally sensitive to Native population and needs.
Must be able to handle unpleasant customers and remain courteous and considerate during those times.
Must be able to professionally relate and communicate effectively and efficiently with the public.
Must be able to follow all instructions, written and oral.
Must have a valid non-restricted Oklahoma Driver’s License.
Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend or kneel for long periods of time.
Prolonged sitting, standing, or walking; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, and stooping; good finger dexterity and sensory perception; frequent repetitive motions; as well as talking, hearing, and visual acuity are required.
Frequent lifting (up to 30 lbs)
Occasional lifting (up to 60 lbs)
