General Description

Under the supervision of the Domestic Violence Department Director, follow-up on all contacts made into the department that involve domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, sex trafficking and stalking and provide services to such victims/survivors to help ensure safety and well-being of those individuals.

Responsibilities
  • Review applications from and conducts intakes with program applicants.

  • Maintains confidential records and statistical information for reporting on each victim/survivor served.

  • Contacts and counsels victims/survivors regarding their particular situation.

  • Assist victims/survivors in knowing their rights about obtaining a Protective Order and what to do when the Order is violated.

  • Prepares the victim/survivor for court testimony and accompanies the victim/survivor to court, arranging for child care if necessary.

  • Obtains full and complete statements from victims/survivors as well as medical releases to provide necessary evidence for prosecution.

  • Provides referrals to victims/survivors for counseling, support groups and financial assistance to better support the victim/survivor.

  • Serves as a resource to law enforcement agencies to assist with the emergency needs of victims/survivors and serves as a resource to the Tribal Court to provide court ordered services or refer clients to these services as appropriate.

  • Work to provide case management, transportation, and referrals as needed.

  • Accompany client to law enforcement, attorney meetings, and court hearings.

  • Determine appropriate services for incoming clients.

  • Maintain client and staff confidentiality.

  • Be thoroughly familiar with the policies and procedures guiding the work of this position in particular and the program or department overall. 

  • Perform job functions in line with these policies and procedures.

  • Understanding and support of the agency’s mission.

  • Empower clients to achieve goals and make positive changes in their lives.

  • Increase knowledge of local referral sources and ability to coordinate services with other providers.

  • Maintains regular office hours and be on call for meeting with victims/survivors to make it easier for the victim/survivor to initiate criminal proceedings or receive assistance.

  • Provide crisis intervention advocacy as it pertains to court advocacy.

  • In/Out of State Training as permitted by finding.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Social Work or a related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Preference will be given to persons with the following or similar certifications: Certified Domestic & Sexual Violence Response Professional, State-Certified Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Training Program or SANE/SART (sexual assault nurse examiner/sexual assault response team).

  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s license.

  • Must be able to pass a background check.

  • Native American Preference/EOE/Drug Free Workplace.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as law enforcement reports, government or agency regulations and legal interpretations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and policy and procedure recommendations. Ability to speak effectively before individuals, public groups and employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts required to assist with budget management.

REASONING Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Assist families to resolve complex family situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The employee work environment may have some hostile characteristics encountered while performing the primary functions of this job. The employee should have knowledge of techniques to deal with hostile clients. Victims/survivors may be met at safe locations outside of the office for completion of intakes and to ensure safety.

Travel This job will require some travel in and out of state.
