General Description
This position is located at both the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Clinic- Little Axe Clinic in Norman Oklahoma and the AST Health Clinic in Shawnee as needed. The Little Axe Clinic and Shawnee Clinic are outpatient multi-disciplinary clinics established and managed by the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma. The Little Axe clinic and Shawnee Clinic are ambulatory clinics that provides direct care services to Native American patients. The purpose of the position is to provide physical therapy services for the clinic patients in an outpatient setting. This position functions under the supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation Services.
Responsibilities
Clean and organize work area and disinfect equipment after treatment.
Instruct, motivate, safeguard and assist patients practicing exercises and functional activities, under direction of therapist.
Secure patients into or onto therapy equipment.
Transport patients to and from treatment areas, using wheelchairs or providing standing support.
Confer with physical therapy staff and others to discuss and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment following therapists instructions for plan of care.
Perform clerical duties, such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephone, taking messages, and filling out forms.
Maintain equipment and furniture to keep it in good working condition, including performing the assembly and disassembly of equipment and accessories.
Arrange treatment supplies to keep them in order.
Assist patients to dress, undress, and put on and remove supportive devices, such as braces, splints, and slings.
Measure patient's vital signs to determine effects of treatments or for patient evaluations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements and Qualifications
High School or GED required; certification from a trade school is preferred.
Must pass a background check.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate with patients, families, caregivers and other healthcare professions.
Good organizational and assessment skills.
Ability to lift patient as needed to assist with PT.
The ability to fully utilize a computer.
The ability to perform duties with minimum of supervision.
The ability to function as a team member.
The ability to be a dependable team member of the clinic setting and be ready to start work on time.
