General Description
The 477 Program Outreach Specialist will support the Outreach Coordinator in building relationships and securing agreements with internal and external partners to assist clients eligible for AST 477 Program employment, education, and training services. The 477 Program Outreach Specialist may also be cross-trained to perform program intake, delivery and client interventions.  They may also perform work to include, but are not limited to, determination of program eligibility; and resource and referral for services for clients to other departments to assist with employment, education and training activities.
Responsibilities & Duties
  • Must understand the goals and objectives of the AST 477 Program as well as be knowledgeable of the Federal 102-477 guidelines.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners to support client access to employment, education, and training opportunities.
  • Assist with outreach activities to increase awareness of program services and engage eligible individuals.
  • Provide resource and referral services to connect clients with relevant support programs and departments.
  • Assist with program intake, including gathering necessary documentation and conducting preliminary eligibility screenings.
  • Support the delivery of program services, including coordinating workshops, training sessions, and employment-related activities.
  • Will assist Case Managers manage participants at their worksites including potential visits with employers and participants.
  • Participate in cross-training opportunities to enhance knowledge of program operations and client interventions.
  • Must be able to present 102-477 regulations clearly and accurately to participants and public. 
  • Must be able to work with diverse cultures and be familiar with the needs of the native community.
  • Participates in staff conferences for the purpose of overall program planning.
  • Must adhere to Absentee Shawnee Tribe Personnel Policies and Drug and Alcohol Policies
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have one of the following:
      a.  Bachelors’ Degree, preferably in Human Services or related field.
      b.  Two (2) year experience in Human Services field, or related work in a family relations and/or public
           assistance program;
      c.  Preference for Master’s degree in Human Services or related field.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Offices systems a must.
  • Applicants must have experience in working with Native American communities, experience in Tribal social services settings, preferred.  Must exercise mature judgment in dealing with people and in the solving of individual and family problems related to the provision of employment, education and training. 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test for pre-employment for the Tribe
  • Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License. 
  • Must be able to pass a background check. 
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend or kneel for long periods of time.
  • Sitting or standing or walking for long period of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking hearing and visual acuity.
  • Frequent lifting (up to 15 lbs)
  • Occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs)
