General Description
This position is located at the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Clinic- Little Axe Clinic in Norman, Oklahoma. The Clinics are an outpatient multi-disciplinary clinic established and managed by the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma. The incumbent interviews patient to obtain pertinent data and information for insurance and billing purposes, updating records data integrity, etc. Primary duties include patient registration, scheduling appointments; instructing and assisting patients with regard to completing documentation and procedures; answering and directing all phone calls, maintaining a professional and confidential working environment. Attendance is essential to achieving success in this role. Responsibilities & Duties
Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
Answer basic inquiries and direct patients to appropriate departments.
Collect and verify patient information, including demographics and insurance details.
Assist patients with completing necessary forms.
Obtain necessary signatures for consent and billing documentation.
Collect and process patient payments, including co-pays.
Input patient data into the registration system accurately.
Schedule appointments and maintain providers' schedule.
Transmit information or documents to patients via mail.
Maintain strictest confidentiality; adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
Conduct self in accordance with AST administrative manual.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education Requirements and Qualifications
0-3 years of clerical, secretarial, medical office or customer service experience preferred.
Experience in working with Native Americans preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong problem solving skills.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Proficient in computer usage, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Knowledge of software to access and interpret patient data (eCW, Dentrix).
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff.
Ability to be culturally sensitive to Native Americans.
Self-motivated.
Must possess time management skills.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to be punctual.
Ability to work well with others.
Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.
Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend or kneel for long periods of time.
Prolonged sitting, standing, or walking; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, and stooping; good finger dexterity and sensory perception; frequent repetitive motions; as well as talking, hearing, and visual acuity are required.
