Wanda Little Axe Tiger, born January 18, 1947, to Lillian Sloan Little Axe and John Little Axe, passed away, November 25, 2025, at 1:04 a.m., surrounded by loved ones.
She was a proud Absentee Shawnee Tribal member and traditional Shawnee woman.
Wanda lived a life grounded in her culture and her family. She attended Riverside Indian School, where she was crowned Miss Riverside. She graduated with the class of 1965 and later continued her education at Haskell Institute, where she graduated in 1967.
She went on to build a career with the United States Postal Service, dedicating many years of service before retiring. During retirement, Wanda embraced her love of sewing and beadwork, becoming a vendor and sharing her artistry with others. She was also a devoted OU fan who enjoyed cheering on her team.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, Lillian Sloan Little Axe and John Little Axe; first husband, James Cody Spybuck Sr.; second husband, Charles Tiger; siblings, Deloris Johnson, Kenneth Little Axe, Troy Little Axe Sr. and Danny Little Axe Sr.
She is survived by her two sons, from her first marriage, James Cody Spybuck Jr., Little Axe, Oklahoma and Jason Evan Spybuck, Little Axe, Oklahoma; three grandsons, Justice Spybuck, Easton Spybuck and Case Spybuck, all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Morganne King and husband Auston, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Adrianne Spybuck, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Jaylin Evan Spybuck, Lynee Rue King and Lylah Lue King; six siblings, Jerry James and wife Barbara Little Axe, Little Axe, Oklahoma, Carolyn Little Axe Sadongei and husband Keith, Little Axe, Oklahoma, Marilyn Byers, Little Axe, Oklahoma, Sabrina Little Axe, Little Axe, Oklahoma and John Al Little Axe, Tecumseh, Oklahoma; she leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Wanda will be remembered for her strength, kindness, cultural knowledge and the love she held for her family.
A Wake Service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the Tiger Family home, 2900 192nd Avenue NE, Norman, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Little Axe Family Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
