The Absentee Shawnee Tribe is primarily located in the heart of central Oklahoma with approximately 4,488 members as of January, 2021 enrollment record who are living in all parts of the world. Our tribal government complex is located in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Our logo features Tecumseh, a Shawnee warrior and visionary leader, who worked to unite tribes in a common homeland where Indians could live under their own laws and leaders. He died in October 1813, in battle near the area of present day Thamesville, in Toronto, Canada. The LI-SI-WI-NWI in our logo means “Among the Shawnee”

Utility Assistance Program

On behalf of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma, the Executive Committee has established the COVID-19 Utility Assistance Program in response to the pandemic. The Executive Committee understands the impact this pandemic has had on our AST community and wants nothing more than to help serve our people. With this being said, the COVID-19 Utility Assistance Program is designed to help alleviate the risk of energy utility service disconnection (i.e. electricity, gas, propane, water). The COVID-19 Utility Assistance Program is a one-time payment of $400.00 for eligible AST enrolled tribal members. This service can be used as a credit or full payment for (1) utility bill. The Absentee Shawnee tribal members who meet the guidelines are eligible for this service. Any unpaid balances from previous residences, any re-connection fees or deposits of any kind that are not “Utility costs” will not be paid. The one-time payment of $400.00 will be made to the vendor (utility company). From the Election Commission

In a joint meeting, on January 22, 2018, between the Executive Committee, the Election Commission and the potential candidates of the upcoming election, a decision was made that the Primary Election on March 17, 2018 will not be held this year.

The decision was made because there were no more than two (2) candidates running for the positions due for election this year. All candidates were advanced to the June Run Off Election which will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018, as required by the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Constitution.
