General Description
The Agribusiness Production Manager combines technical knowledge, business acuity, and leadership skills to manage the operations of businesses and organizations involved in the production, processing, and distribution of agricultural products and services, including farming, food processing, marketing, and supply chain management. The Agribusiness Production Manager develops and implements business strategies, budgets and manages finances, makes decisions about buying and selling livestock and crops, oversees production processes and personnel, and adapts to fluctuations and changes in weather, market trends, and regulations.
Responsibilities & Duties
Developing and implementing business plans, including strategies for growth, expansion, and profitability
Overseeing operations, including crop and livestock production, processing, and distribution
Managing financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
Maintaining regulatory compliance and ensuring that the business operates within local, state, and federal laws and regulations
Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including Tribal Members, suppliers, government agencies, community organizations, and other Departments
Hiring, training, and supervising employees, including managing their schedules and workloads
Implementing sustainable agriculture practices, including conservation, energy efficiency, and waste reduction programs
Conducting market research and analyzing trends in the agricultural industry to inform business decisions
Staying informed about new technologies and techniques in the industry, and adapting to new innovations as needed
Working in a variety of locations, including on-site farm operations, in an office, or in a combination of both, sometimes outside of regular business hours
Traveling to multiple farm locations, as well as attending industry events and training opportunities
Spending a significant amount of time outdoors, walking through fields or livestock facilities, or working in inclement weather conditions
Working in a fast-paced and demanding environment, with multiple tasks and deadlines to manage, while making decisions quickly, sometimes under pressure
Maintaining communication within and between Departments, as well as follow chain-of-command when addressing problems
Must adhere to Absentee Shawnee Tribe Personnel Policies and Drug and Alcohol Policies
Minimum three (3) years’ experience in agriculture related work
Effective oral and written communication skills
Must be able to pass a drug test for pre-employment for the Tribe
Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License
Must be able to meet and maintain eligibility for Absentee-Shawnee Tribe liability insurance requirements
Must be able to pass a background check
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend or kneel for long periods of time
Sitting or standing or walking for long period of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking hearing and visual acuity
Frequent lifting (up to 15 lbs)
Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs)
