General Description
This position is located at the Little Axe Health Clinic in Norman, Oklahoma within the Contract Health/PRC Department. This position serves as the liaison between the Absentee Shawnee Tribe, the patients and the third party care providers to whom/what the patients have been referred. The incumbent is under direct supervision of the Case Manager (PRC) Department, Director (PRC) Department.
Responsibilites
Communicates and coordinates daily with Contract Health/PRC Supervisors, various health program entities, physicians and other health care providers to aid in the closing of open referrals generated to outside clinics for patient care.
Works with CASE MANAGER, in learning, the process and authorization of outsourcing medical visits.
Communicates with the patients attending physicians when necessary.
Checks open referrals on daily bases keeps a spreadsheet up to date to ensure all referrals have been closed or completed
Daily medical records review when processing all referrals for insurance current updates.
Process insurance knowledge of related documents needed for justification on referrals
Communicates with IHS Area Office, other contract health offices for completion of referrals.
Must have knowledge of catchment areas related to tribal benefits.
Other duties as assigned.

Education, Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have knowledge of Medical Terminology /Medical Records
Electronic Health Records knowledge
Must become familiar with Health Benefits Guidelines per tribal entities.
Preferred Qualifications: (or Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
This position requires a working knowledge and understanding of provider generated referral processes once referrals is sent to correct physician or clinic.
Computer and typing skills are required. With additional knowledge in all computer software programs, specifically working with spreadsheets.
Supervision Requirements:
Must be able to perform essential duties with minimal direct supervision. Must possess excellent telephone phone skills for reporting of completed outside provider/clinic visits.
This position is under the supervision of the Case Manager and Contract Health PRC Director and is responsible for directly reporting to each as needed.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend or kneel for long periods of time.
Sitting or standing or walking for long period of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking hearing and visual acuity.
