The Executive Committee of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma, in accordance with the Constitution, Article XVI, Section 4, "Executive Committee Meetings" hereby calls and declares public notice that the SPECIAL meeting of the Executive Committee of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma has been scheduled for Monday November 29th , 2021   at  2:00 PM  at the  Absentee  Shawnee  Tribal  Complex  in Shawnee, Oklahoma.            Dated 17th day of November 2021

All ribbon skirt submissions were beautiful and it was a difficult decision for all! AST Department Directors voted to determine the winner. T-Shirt Design Contest Help us design a shirt to honor the Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls that go missing every year! Open to AST Tribal members 18 years and older.   Your design should honor the murdered and missing women and girls. NO GRAPHIC DESIGNS. Please only hand drawings. The winning drawing (1) will receive a $50 gift certificate to the AST Gift Shop and their art will be featured on a t-shirt that will be handed out during events held on May 5th. If chosen as winner, an artwork release form must be signed. Artwork can either be hand delivered to the Cultural Preservation Department (please go through checkpoint) or emailed to Carol Butler at cbutler@astribe.com whom you may also contact if you have any questions. Contest deadline November 30, 2021. Winner announced December 6, 2021.

In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, Cultural Preservation presents Coloring Contest for Children Contest eligibility limited to children grades 12th and younger living in Oklahoma, Cleveland, Lincoln, Seminole or Pottowatomie counties in the state of Oklahoma. Coloring sheets can be picked up at Cultural Preservation during business hours. Please go through checkpoint first. Also, contact us if you need other arrangements. Coloring sheets are due Tuesday, November 30th. Please drop them off at Cultural Preservation, after going through checkpoint during business hours (8 am to 5 pm). Please put your name, grade and phone number on the back of the sheet. One prize will be awarded in four different age groups: Kindergarten and younger; 1st-4th; 5th-8th and 9th-12th. Questions can be addressed to the Cultural Preservation Director, Carol Buter at cbutler@astribe.com or 405.275.4030.

87th Semi-Annual General Council Meeting Saturday, October 23, 2021 10 am Thunderbird Casino, Norman, OK Get Vaccinated and Fight the Flu Public Health offering COVID vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna) and flu shots from 9:15 am to 10:00 am before General Council Meeting. First 50 tribal members to come get a flu shot will get a backpack with other incentives. Must get the flu shot in order to get the backpack. We will also offer the Pfizer or Moderna COVID vaccine. If it is for your 2nd dose or the booster, you must bring your vaccine card so that we can verify which vaccine you received. COVID booster shots and 3rd doses available based on CDC recommendations. Angel Tree Program The Indian Child Welfare Angel Tree program helps provide Christmas gifts to Absentee Shawnee children and elders. The program is designed to support AST foster children, children in legal guardianship, low income families and Elders 60 years and older. Once an angel has been registered and accepted their Christmas wish list is placed on ICW’s Christmas tree for donors to purchase gifts. The gifts are distributed to the family to place under their Christmas tree.
